Windows 10 surprise drew attention in Windows’ March 2024 report card

With the start of a new month, Statcounter has once again published its report showing which Windows versions are used and how much they are used.

According to Statcounter in its March 2024 report, last month was not a very good month for Windows 11. Microsoft’s latest operating system dropped significantly from 28.18% to 26.72% (-1.46 points) after reaching its peak in January. Interestingly, Microsoft recently started sending “upgrade invitations” to more devices running Windows 10. However, these invitations do not seem to have helped Windows 11 increase its market share for now.

Windows 10, on the other hand, has regained some of the audience it previously lost and its market share is now just over 69%. Statcounter says that Windows 10 increased its market share by 1.81 points.

Windows 7, 8.1, and 8, despite their “unsupported” status, still hold relatively significant market shares at 3.04%, 0.44%, and 0.29% respectively. Even Windows XP, at 0.39%, has a large enough audience with internet access to participate in Statcounter’s measurements.

According to Statcounter’s data, Windows usage rates as of March 2024 are as follows:

Windows 10: 69.04% (+1.81 points)

Windows 11: 26.72% (-1.46 points)

Windows 7: 3.04% (-0.06 points)

Windows 8.1: 0.44% (-0.22 points)

Windows XP: 0.39% (-0.13 points)
