Wii U and 3DS Online Servers Are Shutting Down
The online servers of the 3DS and Wii U devices offered to users by Nintendo are closing as of today. Therefore, unfortunately, it will no longer be possible to play online games on these devices.
Another era is coming to an end
Previously, Nintendo closed the eShop service for both systems in March 2023. To this day, players continue to have access to online multiplayer games and rankings. But this is about to change. Because with the closure of online servers, games can only be played in offline mode. This will especially affect online-intensive games like the original Splatoon on Wii U.
As reported by Nintendo, players will be able to continue playing games offline while online services are shut down. On the other hand, it is worth noting that the online servers of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter will remain open. On the other hand, you will be able to download the additional packages you have previously purchased and install them in your games, even if the servers are shut down.
