Vivo is preparing to bring 5.5G support to its flagship phones
Vivo is preparing to add 5.5G support with the OTA (Over-the-Air) update that it will soon offer to its flagship smartphones. It has been confirmed that the newly launched Vivo X Fold 3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Vivo X100 series will initially get 5.5G connectivity along with several iQoo smartphones. The first device to use the new generation wireless technology, which will provide higher download speeds, is expected to be Oppo’s flagship Find X7.
The Chinese smartphone brand announced via Weibo that the Vivo X Fold 3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Vivo X100 series will get 5.5G connectivity with an OTA update later this month. Vivo’s sub-brand iQoo’s iQoo 12 series and iQoo Neo 9 series will be among the first devices to receive 5.5G support.
In addition, Vivo’s Product Manager Han Boxiao posted an image of the Vivo X100 Pro running on China Mobile’s 5.5G network on the Chinese microblogging platform. In the image, it can be seen that the device reached a download speed of 3619.19Mbps and an upload speed of 160.75Mbps. The maximum download speed of 5.5G is claimed to be up to 10Gbps and the upload speed is up to 1Gbps.
Additionally, Oppo announced that it plans to bring 5.5G to its Find X7 series smartphones. In addition, Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be one of the first smartphones to feature 5.5G in China. China Mobile aims to cover more than 300 cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, with its 5.5G network by the end of the year.
