Report: We Mostly Played Old Games in 2023

 Newzoo, a company that stands out with its important statistical data, comes out with a new status report. In the published report, the developments in the gaming industry of 2023 are conveyed to us and it is revealed that old games are generally played.

 

In the report, 2 years and more are considered new games.

 

 If we look at the details of the report, we can state that the gaming industry will grow by 93.5 billion dollars in 2023. A small number of publishers and developers gained a significant share of this pie. According to the resulting data, 66 games represented 80 percent of all gaming time in 2023, and we can confirm that these games are games that are 6 years old or older.

 

If we look at the games played, productions such as Fortnite, GTA 5, League of Legends, Minecraft and Roblox account for 27% of the gaming time during the year. New games in the report represent periods of 2 years or more. If we look at these games, we can say that they are productions such as FC (FIFA) and Madden with a 23% share. Apart from this, productions that have not yet completed their year, such as Diablo IV or Baldur’s Gate III, represent only 8% of the total game time.

 

On the other hand, the report also includes Fortnite, GTA, Counter-Strike, Apex Legends, Starfield and more among the most played games according to the number of active users.
