Nintendo Will Not Attend Gamescom 2024 Event
Nintendo, which stands out with its handheld consoles and also attracts users with its console-specific games, announced that it will not participate in the Gamescom 2024 event. In a statement to the German publication Games Wirtschaft, a spokesperson for the company stated that they will not be participating in this summer’s event.
Nintendo will skip Gamescom this year
Gamescom 2024 organizers have not yet announced the participant list of the fair, which is planned to take place in Cologne, Germany between 21-25 August. As you know, Nintendo participated in last year’s Gamescom as a participant. According to VGC sources, the company also used the event to show tech demos of the Switch 2 behind closed doors.
In February, it was reported that Nintendo was delaying the release of its next-generation console from 2024 to early 2025. While one publication source claimed that the device was delayed in order to prepare more powerful first-party software, others claimed that this move was made to avoid potential hardware supply problems.
On the other hand, Nintendo ended the eShop services available for 3DS and Wii U in March 2023. Now, we can state that online features are not available on these devices. Games on these devices can now only be played offline. On the other hand, the servers of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter games are still open.
